A whale of a time: "My husband and I went on a boat trip from North Berwick looking for puffins and gannets," says Julia Dunbar. "We got more than we bargained for when we came across a pod of orcas, who entertained us for a while."

A quacker of a shot: "Photographing a rainbow in Dalmuir Park, I was briefly aware of what I assumed to be a seagull or pigeon flying quickly through the frame," says Stuart Neville. "Only when I got home did I see that it was a duck, perfectly positioned and in a pleasing shape."
